On yesterday’s breaking live stream, Ezra Levant discussed the Federal Court ruling that Justin Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act was unconstitutional.
The Trudeau Liberals used the Emergencies Act to quell the anti-mandate Freedom Convoy protests that erupted in Ottawa and across the country in early 2022.
Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland has been heavily criticized for using the Emergencies Act to work with banks to freeze the bank accounts of Freedom Convoy supporters.
The Trudeau Liberals are standing by their decision to invoke the Emergencies Act in response to the Freedom Convoy protest, despite a Federal Court finding it violated Canadians’ rights.https://t.co/MtpB9iIEUD

Speaking about the CBC’s coverage of the ruling, Levant said, “Here’s how it works at the CBC. If there’s good news, ‘Trudeau did this,’ ‘Freeland did that,’ if it’s good news it’s very personal. Or ‘Liberals did this.'”
“If it’s bad news, you’ll never see the word Trudeau or Liberal, it’s the ‘federal government.'”
Levant went on to say, “Isn’t it funny that the CBC says it was just ‘unreasonable.’ Yeah, it wasn’t reasonable guys. No, it was breaking the law. You government hacks. You paid-for propagandists. I have to tell you again, that if you need an adjective next to the word journalist, you’re not a journalist.”
In his ruling, Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley wrote:
“I have concluded that the decision to issue the Proclamation does not bear the hallmarks of reasonableness – justification, transparency and intelligibility – and was not justified in relation to the relevant factual and legal constraints that were required to be taken into consideration.
In my view, there can be only one reasonable interpretation of EA sections 3 and 17 and paragraph 2(c) of the CSIS Act and the Applicants have established that the legal constraints on the discretion of the GIC to declare a public order emergency were not satisfied.”
